About Me

About this blog!

I, (Danella) started this blog for our family! I think 99% of the time I would be the one blogging. This blogging world is new to me; I have been wanting to share this new stage of our lives with our friends and family! We love you all and welcome to our blog :]

A son's love

**by Samantha Richter ** Tiny hands, tiny feet. I've waited so long for us to meet. Who could've known a love so true. Innocent and perfect, you're safe within my arms. I'll watch over and protect you, I'll keep you safe from harm with mischief in your smile and wonder in your eyes. Watching you as you sleep, feeling every sigh, I could look at you for hours, and always be content. you became my living angel; when you were heaven sent. just the thought of you, makes my world seem full... you are my life, my love, my son: my precious Lucas

I Am Not Alone

( Author: Unknown ) Running errands and talking on the phone, I am pleasantly reminded that I am not alone. Little tiny hands, a precious rounded knee, pushing and twisting that no one can see. Oh sweet child kicking up your heels, it is our little secret that only I can feel. I look forward to your birth, when I can kiss your skin, but for now I will just smile, as I feel you play within.

Cuzco

After spending some time in Lima, we decided to end our Peru trip with a visit to Cuzco, of course, not only Cuzco but the goal was to get to Machu Picchu, one of the 7 wonders of the world.  Andrew and I were pumped up! I wanted to pack my stuff in a small carry on with weels but Andrew said it was going to be much easier if we carry just his duffle backpack.  I was hesitant but agreed reluctantly.
We wanted to stretch the money we had as much as possible.  We decided to take a plane to Cusco but they would charge Andrew almost $200 on top of the normal fare.  IT WAS INSANE.  We decided to take a bus J It was a 20 hour ride! Zzzzzzzzzzz… Though, they told us that there were beautiful landscapes and sceneries on the way.  Though, we only slept J My parents told us we were going to get SOROCHE because of the altitude of Cusco; so, they bought us sorochi-pill!! It is a medicine we had to take before entering the Sierra.

When we got to Cuzco, I was lightheaded and we had some Mate de Coca, we ate and then slept a little bit. Our room was on the second floor, after going up the stairs we WERE OUT OF BREATH, it was only 20 stairs I believe. You can imagine the altitude... We woke up more rejuvenated and ready to go out and walk around Cuzco.

Qorikancha

That night, cuzqueños were making a ritual to the Pachamama.  August is the month of the Pachamama.

We bought a ticket that would give us access to many places and performances! this was the first time Andrew paid cheaper! He had his BYU ID card, I had my U of U ID as wel but mine doesn't list the expiration date. So, Andrew got a better price!

Walking down the street

We were happy we weren't in Utah, where the streets are so wide.  In Cuzco, the streets are narrow and we loved how they were built. Though, it is very exhausting to go up.  We had to stop once in a while to catch some air.
Cuzco had a clear sky always! We didn't miss Lima's sky... It was a bit colder than Lima and our hotel didn't have a heating system! :S
