One of the things that I have always wanted to do at BYU is to be part of the Lu'au. They have it every March. You can decide to dance for up to 2 countries. Estela, Wilo, Andrew and I decided to dance for Tonga. We wanted to become more familiar with the Polynesian culture! Wilo and Andrew ended up bailing out due to their busy schedule. I have to be honest, I wanted to bail out as well but I decided to stay. I am glad my sister and I did! We really enjoyed learning and meeting new people.

I learned one of the traditions Polynesians have when their people are dancing. Those who are performing receive money in cash from the audience (i.e. friends, family). They come to the stage and the performers need to keep dancing, while the friends put the money in their customes or somewhere near them. I bet this girl received at least $200 in cash! I am not kidding, I don't have a picture of how much money people thew at her but it was insane. Maybe I should change jobs, from now on I want to be a Polynesian dancer!
