About Me

About this blog!

I, (Danella) started this blog for our family! I think 99% of the time I would be the one blogging. This blogging world is new to me; I have been wanting to share this new stage of our lives with our friends and family! We love you all and welcome to our blog :]

A son's love

**by Samantha Richter ** Tiny hands, tiny feet. I've waited so long for us to meet. Who could've known a love so true. Innocent and perfect, you're safe within my arms. I'll watch over and protect you, I'll keep you safe from harm with mischief in your smile and wonder in your eyes. Watching you as you sleep, feeling every sigh, I could look at you for hours, and always be content. you became my living angel; when you were heaven sent. just the thought of you, makes my world seem full... you are my life, my love, my son: my precious Lucas

I Am Not Alone

( Author: Unknown ) Running errands and talking on the phone, I am pleasantly reminded that I am not alone. Little tiny hands, a precious rounded knee, pushing and twisting that no one can see. Oh sweet child kicking up your heels, it is our little secret that only I can feel. I look forward to your birth, when I can kiss your skin, but for now I will just smile, as I feel you play within.

Developing new skills?

Before being a student in Utah, I heard rumors that a student didn't have time to eat because BYU was a hard university and student life was just hard. Those rumors were confirmed when I started being a BYU student. My first semester, I bought those packaged frozen meals that they sell in every grocery store for like $1 if you buy 10? I bought 20 or 30, I don't even remember. I stacked them in the freezer. Meli and Klau are probably the ones who can testify about this.
I use to make the most unhealthy/easiest foods for breakfast such as fried eggs, fried hot dog or bacon... etc. Not to say that those are unhealthy meals but if you eat that every day you are definitely going to grow a bulge. There were times that I had cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ingrid and some other friends at BYU, (awww, good times) went to ANY reunion/get together/event/club meeting/career recruitment/panels/etc. at BYU because they were going to serve FREE food. Every time that Ingrid or I saw the word FREE, all we needed to see next to that word to decide if the post was worth reading was FOOD or PIZZA. Some examples are when we went for the CIA panel recruitment; interested? No; food? Yes! Another example, BYU MBA career panel; interested? No; food? Yes! Lastly, I think we went to this Karate club meeting; interested? What do you think?; food? Yes! I think on this one I only passed by and grabbed 2 slices of pizza and then kept going.

Results? SUPER BULGE! other Results? HEALTH PROBLEMS! so embarrassing, but true. Eventually, I "cared" a "bit more about" my eating and started to eat more rice, more chicken and of course, POTATOES! I love them. But I got sick of them for a while because all I did was baking the chicken with the potatoes while I went running and then come back home and voila! food was ready. Monday meal was chicken, rice potatoes; Tuesday meal was potatoes, rice, chicken; Wednesday meal was rice, chicken potatoes... etc.
Now that I am married, I can't see my husband eat those meals or cereal for lunch! No señor! and I can't go back to those unhealthy eating years (I know that I used to "antojar" Meli with that morning smell of eggs and hot dog =D). I admired my roommates that cooked so well-- I used to cook once in a blue moon. I now make time to make real meals for me and my husband. Andrew cooks too but I cook most of the time.  We have been married for almost 6 months and I am already running out of recipes! I don't know HOW I survived 5 years with me no cooking real meals. I am still developing cooking skills and I love cooking! In addition, I used to make fun of "BYU girls" who baked goodies all the time because I thought there were just trying to "get a guy." I regret thinking like that. Now, I find myself looking and asking for baking recipes. I am starting to develop baking skills too. I made German pancakes and peach cobbler last week. Now, I get different RESULTS from my cooking: happy husband, happy me and future happy children.

  4. You all should know that Danella cooks wonderfully and does have a wide variety of meals that she prepares! She is cute when I come home from work and she is nervous to see if her meal came out right! hehehe although she may not have practiced for that long she definitely caught up quick!
